photographics identities

January 22nd, Monday, 6 - 8:30pm

An exhibition of photographic portraits by participants from YCSA, Glasgow (Youth Community Support Agency)

In 2017 a group of young people from diverse cultural backgrounds came together at YCSA to photograph and present minority ethnic identities in Glasgow. They learned the theory and practice of portraiture photography from professional photographer Bartosz Urbanski and an introduction to poetry writing from Hannah Lavery at the Scottish Poetry Library. With the support of YCSA staff and volunteer tutors. The participants engaged in various personal development activities to reflect on their identity and representation and tell stories through their images and texts.

The public exhibition: Photographic Identities #2 displays new works by participants who took part in this experience. Please come along on the night to celebrate the final results, admire the work and and join in the conversation!
