SAVE THE BROOMIELAW!

MEET AT THE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE- BROOMIELAW QUAY

BETWEEN 12-2PM THIS THURSDAY

Broomielaw Quay has become one of Glasgow's best used public spaces. Glasgow City Council has recently granted Planning Approval for a series of four giant sheds, each housing a 250 seat restaurant to be built along the quay, totally obliterating this valuable urban space.

The area needs local amenity to complement the space and to serve the International Financial Services District, but what is proposed is vastly over scaled and will be severely damaging to the area. There exists a great opportunity for a subtle, sensitive architectural intervention, preserving the unique urban landscape of Broomielaw Quay AND supporting the area with food and coffee concessions. It just needs to be designed and planned properly.

We support the report by Architecture and Design Scotland.

We support the comments of the Glasgow Urban Design Panel.

We support the guidance of Glasgow City Councils' City Plan 2'.

Why is GCC ignoring these objections?
