Thanks for your message about the police in Glasgow. Who would have thought there would be two police museums in a friendly city like Glasgow?

There must be more to the tale of the setting up of the police force. My recollection is that wealthy west enders at the area west of Charing Cross still felt a need for protection in the 1810s-20s.

The Regality Club papers may help with details on that story. I'll check one or two other sources for earlier issues. Senex may have something.
