Noelle Turner-Bridger This exhibition is an interactive game-like installation. It explores ideas surrounding performativity, violence, games, and gender. The installation invites the viewer to take on the role of a main character in their own real life video game - with a choice of weapons, and a strawman monster to fight against. The game presented speaks of the existentialist dread of not knowing the right direction, and the constant search for a map, or the right algorithm, to win life's ‘great game’. There is also an uneasiness that in that desperate search, when we think that we have found the map, we might in fact be handed a fake map which is part of someone else’s game: the government, corporations, the class system, and capitalism. The works hint at the madness and violence that we must act on to others, or to ourselves, if we are all pawns in winning someone else’s game.
